SURVIVE & SAVE AWARDS
From September 2012 our club will now be training and assessing the above awards. There are three levels BRONZE - SILVER - GOLD These awards cover four disciplines MEDALLION (POOL BASED) - BEACH - SPORT(COMPETITION) - STILLWATER (INLAND WATER)
Lifesavers must show their competence in a number of disciplines including survival and self-rescue, in-water rescue and demonstrate knowledge of various water environments and potential risks. These skills ensure that these lifesavers are fully equipped to safeguard lives in, on and near water. To train and achieve these awards members are required to purchase the Candidate Pack for £25 (cheques payable to NLSC) and further awards will cost £15 for the assessment forms.
LIFESAVING 1, 2 & 3
These awards introduce basic aquatic Lifesaving skills and provide good preparation for the Bronze Medallion award (which can be taken at 12 years old if these qualifications are held). There is no minimum candidate age for these awards and they are often used to achieve the swimming requirements for GCSE PE and Bronze Level Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
These awards are relevant for lifesavers who have achieved the Rookie Awards and are looking to progress further.
