9 members attended the Bournemouth Beach weekend to achieve their Beach Awards. The members were John Davies, Francesch Haydon-White, Nils Heising, Emily Johnson, Deepi Keerthy, Shobi Keerthy, Roanna Killilea,Kelly Meakin and Zoe Panting. On Friday evening we travelled from Northfield to Bournemouth and stayed in the Sea Scout Hall ready to head to the beach on Saturday morning to start the training for the awards. The members of Bournemouth Lifesaving and Lifeguarding Club were on hand to help us all learn the hazards of the beach and the water conditions. All the members found swimming in the sea very different to the pool back in Northfield. On Saturday afternoon they were tested for their Bronze and Silver Beach awards and I am happy to say that they all passed. Congratulations and Well Done to all plus a big thank you to Derrick for safely getting us to Bournemouth and back in the mini-bus. Look at the gallery for more pictures of the weekend.

Drowning Prevention Week - 12th May Touchwood Shopping Centre Solihull
On Sunday from 12pm to 1pm Charlotte Goodman and Kieran Rabbitt helped out at the above event to teach Life Support skills to shoppers. During the hour that our club manned the event they demonstrated CPR skills about 15 times. This is vital work in the community and hopefully more people will learn these skills and attend first aid courses. Thank you Charlotte and Kieran for supporting the event on behalf of the committee. Pictured is Charlotte demonstrating Baby CPR to a young couple with a family. More Photos in the Gallery.

Congratulations to Katie Shannon, Shobhi Keerthy and Jo Celmar who recently attended and passed the first element of their Assistant Lifesaving Teaching Qualification at Edgbaston High School.
We look forward to helping them through the next stage where they will be teaching groups at club to gain experience.
Also thanks to Derrick Beckett who assisted on the day and without his help I would still be there.
